Week 9 Middle East

Hey One Weekly Gun Freaks!

This week’s song is about Iran’s project of enriching uranium.

It’s rather abstract and weird. It’s the story of a fugitive being pulled over by allied troops, when suddenly some plant explodes. I’m from Denmark, where we are scared to death of nuclear reactors. And with good reason. They’re scary in many ways.

There’s a Glow

So you ran
to Iran
from Afghanistan
and got caught up in the middle.

When they ask, you tell them, you are not a soldier
You are just carrying the weapons you got a hold of.

Think again.
Honest men don’t get pulled over and searched,
just because they aren’t shaved.

You gotta point out all the friends you have been seeing.
You dig a hole for a whole human being.
And suddenly the odd thing happens.

All the buildings have survived,
and the outside is inside.
There’s a glow

I can smell my hair and nails,
and my colour has changed.
There’s a glow

”On the course
Get it fixed.
If you catch my drift, you can look right through them”

”We’re making electricity, not warfare.
It’s only for ourselves, no selling it to anyone.”
And when you turn, you see the the thing coming.

All the buildings have survived,
and the outside is inside.
There’s a glow

It’s my door and it’s my key
I’m no longer being me.
There’s a glow

Week 8 Fidel Castro resigns

Good Evening.
This is episode 8 of One Weekly Gun.

This weeks headline is a request - and indeed the most dominating one this week.
Fidel Castro, the world’s friendliest dictator has resigned.

I guess I can’t tell anyone anything they didn’t already know about Castro. It not the biggest of tragedies, that he’s no longer the president of Cuba, but indeed it’s the end of an era.

I chose a rather manipultative angle to this week’s song. The words are Castro’s. An aged, paranoid and tired man. It deals with the usual melancholy of getting old and isolated in a cynic world. I added a little positive gesture - indicating that Castro has a great plan for mankind, and nobody listens. I guess he has, but how good it is, can be discussed. By others!

…Feel free to comment.

Special thanks once again goes to Captain Woman who had me sing almost in pitch and provided the backing vocals.
This is also the longest song so far, and it even contains a clever and subtle reference to Kylie Minogue.

Through Me
Download

Do you find it funny when I fall from my chair?
Do you think that it’s relieving, when I’m not there?
Do you dream about the things, I never would do?
Do you feel that it’s a burden, when I’m with you?

It’s in your eyes
I know what you’re thinking.
The hurt in me will flow through me and out through you.
It will flow through me and out through you.
It will flow through me and out through you.

You already know what I’m about to do?
Are you part of the process, I’m going through?
Do you think it’s possible, you don’t understand?
There’s a world with a movement beyond my hand.

It’s in the plan.
I know where I’m going.
The way I choose will go through me and out through you.
It will go through me and out through you.
It will go through me and out through you.

Week 7 - Hollywood back from the strike

Hollywood

HI!
This is One Weekly Gun - part 7.
Quite a lot of interesting things happened this week, and the choice has been difficult.
The forthcoming independence of the Kosovo region was a tempting subject, but the strike of the Writers Guild had a more ironic edge to it. After all it’s funny to think about a [...]

Week 6 - Mitt Romney

News

Hi and welcome to Episode Six of One Weekly Gun.
This week I almost didn’t make it. I had prepared a hymn about Super Tuesday. A song with a verse for each candidate. I got rather academic and in the end I wrote another one right after Mitt Romney announced, that he would withdraw his candidature.
I [...]
